Background
Born in Epping, England.

Trained
While living in Sudan, she commuted to Nairobi to study Haute Cuisine at the French Cultural Institute, an affiliate of Cordon Bleu.  She also studied at the American Culinary Institute.

Worked
In May, 1996 Helen bought the cafe in the Admiral Beatty Complex next to the Imperial Theatre and opened Beatty & the Beastro, after having taught cooking, both in the classroom and on radio & television.

How she got into cooking
Her mom is  a great cook!  While living in remote Central Africa, Helen learned out of necessity to become proficient with  the limited resources available.

First thing she ever cooked
Brownies with the "Betty Crocker - Let's Cook" cookbook, which she still has.

Favorite Place to eat
"A Flemish restaurant in Brouges, Belgium."

Recipe Tip
"Add nutmeg or mace to green beans to enhance the bean flavor."

What she'd be if she weren't a chef
"A protocol officer at a foreign embassy!"

"A Cuisinart, it makes so many time consuming tasks a breeze!"
