Cranapple Crisp
Ingredients
- 5 baking apples, peeled, cored and sliced(6 cups/1.5L)
- 1 12-oz/340 g package frozen cranberries, or 2 1/2 cups/625 ml fresh
- ½ cup brown sugar
Topping:
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup whole wheat flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/3 cup soft non-hydrogenated margarine, cold
- ¾ cup oatmeal mix or large flaked rolled oats
Method
- In a large bowl, combine apples, cranberries and sugar.
- Place in a lightly oiled 13 X 9 inch/3.5 L baking dish.
- To make topping, in a medium bowl, combine flours with sugar and cinnamon.
- Cut in margarine with your fingertips, two knives or a pastry blender until it is in tiny bits. (This can be done in a food processor.)
- Stir in oatmeal mix. Sprinkle mixture over fruit.
- Bake in a preheated 350F/180C oven for 1 hour, or until apples are very tender and fruit is bubbling.
