Staffing - Orientation After you hire a new employee, you will need to start he/she off on the right foot. It is always a good idea to keep a record the employee's personal information like current address, telephone number and most importantly...a legitimate Social Insurance Number. Then what, is your new employee expected to show up on the first day of work and jump right in, or do you want to acquaint him/her with your rules, work expectations or set them up for a training session? It is a good idea to supply your new employee with a guide or handbook that clearly states what your expectations are. This can also be useful for information like pay periods, requesting time off, working hours, group insurance, reprimands or promotions.
